Matteo Belli delves into visual arts, literature, and drama as meaningful sources of inspiration for his work.

He won two first prizes for the orchestral work trame di sangue grigio, which premiered during the 2022 Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Concert Series at the Peabody Conservatory.

His music has been performed by Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence), Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina (Florence), Teatro Amazonas (Brazil), Dartmouth College (USA), Fondazione Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte & Ensemble degli Intrigati (Montepulciano), Altre Voci Ensemble (Italy), Ensemble di Musica Contemporanea Dallapiccola (Florence), DMC Ensemble at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Florence), DUOroboros (Tuscany), and Talea Ensemble (NYC).

In 2022-24, he taught composition & theory at Shenandoah University. In 2022-23, he taught  a course on contemporary classical music at the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. Previously, he was a choral conductor and accompanist at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, a private conservatory based in Florence, Italy. Currently, he's the music director and organist at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Clark, New Jersey.
